Jump
At the edge, on the precipice,
I peer over the edge, heart pounding wildly
“You need to jump.”
I know I do.
Below me, I see a valley
Full of flowers pink, yellow, blue, red and white
Trees of every kind: pine, oak, palm and coconut,
Swallows singing sweet melodies of welcome
Rivers rushing, showering riverbanks with warm rejuvenation
“Jump!”
My feet tremble
I cannot tear my eyes away from these small feet
The drop—is what I fear.
You need to nosedive
To jump
To let the Wind carry you
and the Trees break your fall.
This was written right before I took the plunge and took the spiritual path that I had been so afraid to take because I was afraid of not being enough.
In time, you learn that it isn’t about being “enough”. It’s just about knowing exactly where you want to go in this life, and having the courage to walk in that direction even if it means leaving everything you’ve known behind you. There are no prerequisites to living a life of serenity and fulfilment; all that is required are the clothes on your back, a desire to arrive at your Destination and the willingness to keep walking.
Everything else is just noise.
